The organization is all volunteer and, except for some minor expenses, all money raised and donated each year is spent on gifts for the wounded warriors.

The Nassau County Firefighters-Operation Wounded Warrior (NCFF-OWW) is a non-profit composed of 25 of the 71 fire departments in Nassau County dedicated to doing their part to raise money to help the wounded men and women of the Armed Forces.

“We owe these wounded men and women more than we can ever give them. We firefighters do what we do to honor their service and dedication and thank them for their sacrifice,” said Joseph O’Grady, of the Floral Park Fire Department, and chairman of Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior.

During the visits, the wounded soldiers and their families expressed their gratitude and thanks. Many of them also said they could not believe Long Island volunteer firefighters cared that much to travel that distance to remember them and present them with Christmas gifts.

    Our Mission

    The NCFF-OWW works closely with military representatives of the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington DC, Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, NC and the Naval Hospital in Camp Lejeune, NC. Together, we ensure that useful clothing, personal entertainment electronics, and get-well cards are properly channeled to recovering service personnel.
